  JPYC is offering Adult Keelboat Sailing courses. These classes provide both classroom and on-the-water instruction, providing the opportunity for adults to develop the skills and confidence necessary to enjoy the sport of sailing.

  The courses and training are designed to create competent, confident & capable sailors.

  A minimum of 2 students per session is required to host the class.  A maximum of 4 students per session.  

  Registration fees include (1) free brunch on Saturday morning during the class session.  

  Additionally, students interested in joining the yacht club will receive a 10% discount on yacht club initiation fees if they join within 30 days of completing their class.  

  If you miss any of the scheduled classes and need to make it up , it will be an additional $150.00 fee.

  So, please plan accordingly and be on time!

  The Wednesday night (Beer Can) races are a low-key, intramural club racing series for anyone interested in sailboat racing.  There will be both a Jib and Main (JAM) and spinnaker section.  The first start is at 7:00 pm and most races will be completed by 9:00pm. Be sure to grab a meal in the galley before heading out to race. We will announce the results as soon as possible after the race. The food, drinks, and enthusiastic sailors result in lots of great conversation and fun!

  EVENT DETAILS:

  No boat, No worries! Women on the Water's Community Sail/Boat Night ensures that both Associate and Resident members have an opportunity to spend time together on the water. Join experienced fellow JPYC members on a casual hands-on learning experience on the water. Resident boat owners volunteer their vessels and time each month to help teach new boaters and enrich your JPYC member experience. There are a limited number of spaces available, so register early.

  Don't miss the boat!

  Arrive at 6:15 pm for a safety briefing, boat assignment and boarding. 

  If you are late for the safety briefing, the skipper can request that you reschedule. 
  

  Cast off: 6:45 pm

  Return: 8:30 pm

  Optional Happy Hour at the Clubhouse 8:30 pm

  While no prior experience is required, be prepared to learn and assist in the operation of the boat. Dress appropriately for the weather and for boating, including wearing appropriate footwear (i.e., wear rubber-bottomed, non-marking shoes, no heels or flip flops).

Join experienced fellow JPYC members on a casual hands-on learning experience on the water. Resident boat owners volunteer their vessels and time each month to help teach new boaters and enrich your JPYC member experience. There are a limited number of spaces available, so register early.

  Arrive at 6:15 pm for a safety briefing, boat assignment and boarding. 

  If you are late for the safety briefing, the skipper can request that you reschedule. 
  

  Cast off: 6:45 pm

  Return: 8:30 pm

  Optional Happy Hour at the Clubhouse 8:30 pm

  While no prior experience is required, be prepared to learn and assist in the operation of the boat. Dress appropriately for the weather and for boating, including wearing appropriate footwear (i.e., wear rubber-bottomed, non-marking shoes, no heels or flip flops).

  Come learn how to sail at beautiful Jackson Park Yacht Club!

  JPYC is offering Adult Keelboat Sailing courses. These classes provide both classroom and on-the-water instruction, providing the opportunity for adults to develop the skills and confidence necessary to enjoy the sport of sailing.

  Sailing sessions will be held on our CAL 31 sailboat. They are a popular one-design keelboat that caters to solo sailors, family cruising and competitive racing. Our well equipped boats are 24 feet long and consist of two sails. 

  The courses and training are designed to create competent, confident & capable sailors.

  A minimum of 2 students per session is required to host the class.  A maximum of 4 students per session.

  Registration fees include (1) free brunch on Saturday morning during the class session.  

  Additionally, students interested in joining the yacht club will receive a 10% discount on yacht club initiation fees if they join within 30 days of completing their class.  

  
  

  If you miss any of the scheduled classes and need to make it up , it will be an additional $150.00 fee.

  Tuesday, August 6, 2024 the warning will be @ 18:45, start @ 18:50. This is a jib and main only race. Depending on the wind, there are 2 starting areas. Competitors will be alerted to what the starting area will be. 

  Note:  This warning is 15 minutes earlier than our typical time.

These are Pursuit Races, so your start time is dependent upon your rating.
